About Course

This qualification is designed for those learners wishing to gain an international level 2 qualification in health and safety.
The aim of the qualification is to provide candidates with knowledge of the basic health and safety practices essential in the workplace. Achievement of this qualification will enable learners to work safely and to recognise and deal with hazards in the workplace, and ensure awareness of costeffective, practical control methods. This qualification is applicable for any private or public sector working environment and provides employees with an awareness of their own safety, as well as the safety of customers, contractors and members of the public. The objective of the qualification is to prepare learners to progress into further/higher level training.

Understand roles and responsibilities for health, safety and welfare in the workplace

  • Identify employer’s and employee’s duties relating to health, safety and welfare at work

  • Outline the benefits of good health and safety standards 

  • Outline the requirements for training and competence in the workplace

  • Outline the ways in which health and safety information can be communicated

Understand how risk assessments contribute to health and safety

  • Define the terms hazard, risk, accident and near miss

  • Outline the process for carrying out a risk assessment 

  • Describe how risk assessment can be used to reduce accidents and ill health at work

Understand how to identify and control the risks from common workplace hazards

  • Describe the common hazards and effects of accidents, near miss and ill health at workplace 

  • Describe the principle of the risk control hierarchy 

  •  List examples of risk controls for common workplace hazards

Know the procedures for responding to accidents, near miss and ill health in the workplace

  • Identify the procedures that should be in place for dealing with accidents at workplace 

  • Outline why it is best practise to record all incidents, accidents and ill health

E-Assessment

  • The exam is conducted via Highfield E-assessment and is remotely invigilated online at your home or your workplace.​​

  • Photographic ID [ Passport / Driving Licence / National ID ]

  • PC/Laptop - PC or Laptop running Windows 7 or higher, or a Mac running iOS X or higher

  • Webcam

  • Smartphone running Android 4.1 or IOS 8.0 with camera / video functionality.

  • Good internet connection

  • Personal email address

Certification

  • Successful candidates receive a certificate from the Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance.
