About Course

The Highfield Level 3 Award in Risk Assessment (RQF) has been developed to support learners with a responsibility for conducting risk-assessments at low-risk premises. It covers the principles of risk assessment and will help give learners the foundation for further development as a risk assessor.

Guidance on Assessment

This qualification is assessed in two parts:

Part 1: Multiple Choice Question [MCQ]

  • No. of Questions : 30

  • Pass mark : 20/30 (66%)

  • Exam Duration : 60 Minutes

Part 2: Centre-set and marked assessment

Learners are expected to undertake a risk assessment, which will be internally set and assessed by the center and externally moderated by Highfield UK.

Understand why risk assessments are necessary for ensuring health and safety standards in the workplace

Define key terms associated with risk assessment in the workplace including:

  • Hazard

  • Risk

  • Accident

  • Near miss

  • Accident triangle

  • Risk assessment

  • Risk control hierarchy

  • Suitable and sufficient

  • Competence

  • State the main causes of work-related fatalities, injuries and ill health 

  • Outline the main reasons for preventing accidents and ill health at work 

  • Outline the role of risk assessment in accident and ill health prevention

Understand the principles of risk assessment

  • Outline the requirements for risk assessment 

  • Outline a simple process for undertaking a risk assessment 

  • Outline a method that can be used to prioritise risks

  • Outline requirements for providing information on the results of risk assessments

E-Assessment

  • The exam is conducted via Highfield E-assessment and is remotely invigilated online at your home or your workplace.​​

Exam Requirements

  • Photographic ID [ Passport / Driving Licence / National ID ]

  • PC/Laptop - PC or Laptop running Windows 7 or higher, or a Mac running iOS X or higher

  • Webcam

  • Smartphone running Android 4.1 or IOS 8.0 with camera / video functionality.

  • Good internet connection

  • Personal email address

Certification

  • Successful candidates receive a certificate from the Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance.
